This award was established in 2003 through the proceeds of the Emerald Isle Boston Golf Classic, which became the first Spirit of Golf event. It honors the memory of the late Mr. McCafferty, a former Ouimet Fund Director, Trustee and Treasurer who was a member at Woodland Golf Club and the Oyster Harbors Club. He had been a senior partner at Ernst and Young in Boston and also served with the New England Senior Golfers’ Association. The McCafferty Scholarship is for a Ouimet Scholar from the inner-city who is pursuing a career in business.
This year’s recipient, William Creed, has performed eight years of service at George Wright Golf Course as a caddie scholar. William is a senior at Saint Josephs College where his is majoring in Business/Finance with a 3.4 GPA. After graduation he would like to get his MBA and work in the financial industry.
